The Grey Ladies

Paranormal Investigators located in the Scottish Borders

Official Report:-

SCOTTISH BORDERS PUBLIC HOUSE HOTEL, FRIDAY 3RD FEBRUARY 2006

The Walk Round

We carried out our baseline tests whilst the property owner showed us around the location which consists of different areas belonging to different eras in time.  Because we are not disclosing the location, we are restricted in describing the historical aspects and layout of the location and how it has changed over the years.

Photo Session

We had a couple of team photos taken before we commenced with our night vigils and on inspection, several orbs appeared around us.

The Night Vigils

Bedroom 1

We started off in one of the hotel bedrooms which houses a large wooden four poster bed.  Very soon after we settled into our first vigil, the EMF meter went off next to the window.  We checked for electrically based explanations, but there was no pattern to the EMF meter’s erratic behaviour.  Shortly afterwards, the curtains appeared to start moving, yet none of us walked past them, nor were there any drafts (having previously tested for this factor earlier on).

We asked if there were any spirits in the room with us and the response appeared to be the start of a very interesting overnight investigation where we “communicated” with spirits through our EMF meter.

(Coffee Break)

Upstairs Lounge Bar

We moved to our next vigil and after setting up the equipment, we again began to ask if there were any spirits in the room with us.  Again the EMF meter went off.  We continued to ask various questions and although a bit skeptical, we believe we witnessed genuine responses through the EMF meter.  It just seemed too much of a coincidence to have the EMF meter keep going off on cue, especially when the meter was not being moved and we were kept perfectly still whilst asking the questions.  Orbs were caught on camera.

(Team Break)

Returned to the Upstairs Lounge Area

We only witnessed a brief response from the EMF meter a couple of times on our return, so we decided to move to another part of the building, in an effort to try to continue the apparent phenomenon.

Downstairs Bar Area

Arriving at our next location, this was proving to be the most “active” area so far.  Again on asking questions, we gathered information based on the response by the EMF meter.  The conclusion of the information we gathered was that we “picked up on” a male spirit who stayed here all the time, who was in his 50’s when he passed over and lived in the mid 1700’s.  Then, we “picked up on” a female spirit who worked in the building but who often visits here.  She was in her 60’s and lived in the 1600’s.  (Other information has been witheld as it would give clues as to the location). No names were picked up on.

(Team Break)

Main Staircase

We then moved onto the main staircase and sat down on various stairs..  But despite inviting spirit around us, no results were recorded.

Upstairs Lounge Area

So we returned to the upstairs lounge area and again appeared to “pick up on” the following information:-  There was more than one spirit in the room.  Two children.  Then a mature female spirit. Orbs were caught on camera again.

We continued to ask many questions to which the EMF meter appeared to respond.

Carole definitely felt a light air on her fingers and Pat felt as if she had someone blow on her ear.

Other Areas

Other areas of the building included a hallway where the ghost of a cat has been felt / seen.  Unexplained drafts, cold spots, etc have been felt by guests and lights have went on and off.

Conclusion

This building is indeed historically fascinating and we were amazed at the way the EMF acted on the night.  This piece of our equipment rarely goes off outwith being close to electrical sources, but on this particular investigation, it seemed to have a mind of its own and become taken over by other forces!

We concluded that if ghosts exist in this building, during our time spent there, they like to make themselves known through modern equipment instead of noises and shadows.  If they do indeed exist, many appear to be centuries old and are happy to stay around.  We generally felt there was a good atmosphere in the place and nothing negative was felt around us.

We thank the owners for their permission for us to conduct our investigation and perhaps one day we will return to see if we can collect some more unexplained activity!
