MARY KINGS CLOSE OVERNIGHT INVESTIGATION

WITH SCOTTISH PARANORMAL AND CELEBRITY INVESTIGATOR, PHIL WHYMAN

EDINBURGH GHOSTFEST 2006

We were privileged to be part of one of the first paranormal groups to spend the night in Mary Kings Close.  In addition, celebrity investigator, Phil Whyman, from the first few series of Living TV's Most Haunted programme joined us.  The evening was run by the official Paranormal Investigators of this year's Edinburgh Ghostfest - Scottish Paranormal.

We worked in three separate teams, dividing our time between various areas within Mary Kings Close.  The Grey Ladies team remained together and formed part of Rachel's Team (from Scottish Paranormal).  A late replacement for one of Scottish Paranormal's usual mediums, Fiona, was filled by celebrity medium, Derek Ogilvie.

Various tests and experiments were conducted throughout the night.  For example, Angela and Nicola conducted a pendulum test to see if spirit was around us.  Phil observed the experiment and took several photos as the pendulum appeared to respond slightly to our requests.

We also took part in testing the atmosphere for EMF readings and temperature fluctuations.  Many people claimed to have seen shadows moving around in distant corridors and streets.  There were unexplained strong cold drafts and breezes - we were underground and could not relate this to explanatory outside air in the areas where the air was felt.

We held vigils in Annie's Room, Mr Chesneys's House and various other areas - the mediums felt various spiritual energy and plenty of us heard unexplained bangs, knocks and footsteps (which were all happening when everyone was accounted for).  One person had to be taken out after feeling faint and many people had personal emotional or physical reactions throughout the night.

All in all, it was a great experience spending the night in Mary Kings Close with such a great bunch of enthusiasts.  The question and answer session we all had with Phil was very informative and entertaining and he talked about many behind the scenes explanations and answers to our Most Haunted questions.  For example, it takes on average 65 hours of footage to trawl through to produce a one hour episode.
